Job Description

Latitude is assisting a Washington State-based law firm in identifying an experienced attorney to support ongoing receivership matters, with a particular focus on enforcement of turnover orders, collections, and related litigation strategy. This is a remote, engagement-based role with a steady pipeline of work for the right candidate. The attorney will work closely with the law firm on complex receivership matters involving distressed businesses, focusing on recovery of estate assets, including past-due accounts receivable. This role will involve both legal research and practical litigation support, including development of novel enforcement strategies under Washington law.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft legal memoranda analyzing Washington receivership law, including turnover provisions and contempt remedies
• Research and support enforcement strategies against non-compliant account debtors, including contempt proceedings and monetary sanctions
• Develop legal arguments supporting enhanced remedies, including entry of judgment following failure to comply with court orders
• Analyze and incorporate persuasive authority from bankruptcy law (e.g., turnover and contempt principles) to support state court arguments
• Assist with drafting motions, pleadings, and supporting briefs in receivership and related proceedings
• Provide strategic guidance on collections and recovery of estate assets

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership
• 5+ years of experience in litigation, creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, or receivership matters
• Demonstrated experience with motion practice, legal research, and drafting persuasive memoranda
• Familiarity with Washington receivership law and/or bankruptcy law is highly desirable
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to craft creative, well-supported legal arguments
• Ability to work independently in a remote, project-based environment

Position Details:

• Type of role: Engagement role (potential to convert to a permanent position for the right candidate based on performance and business needs)
• Schedule: Part-time to full-time
• Location: Fully remote.

Compensation:

Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $130,000– $200,000+ when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).

Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude contract professionals receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage. Latitude contract professionals are usually W2 employees of Latitude and are eligible for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week. Benefits-eligible Latitude contract professionals receive complimentary Group Life, LTD and AD&D. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
