We are seeking an Accessibility UX Specialist to join our team. This role will involve embedding accessibility into product design, ensuring inclusive user experiences, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet and exceed accessibility standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in UX design, accessibility standards (WCAG), and inclusive design practices, along with a passion for creating usable products for all users.

Duration: 6 months

Job Description:

The Accessibility UX Specialist will be responsible for integrating accessibility best practices into the product design lifecycle to create inclusive digital experiences.

The Accessibility UX Specialist will collaborate with product designers, researchers, and engineers to ensure all design solutions meet accessibility standards and usability requirements.

The Accessibility UX Specialist will review and validate design artifacts to identify accessibility risks and ensure compliance with WCAG guidelines.

The Accessibility UX Specialist will contribute to design systems by defining accessibility standards and ensuring proper documentation for engineering handoffs.

The Accessibility UX Specialist will also lead enablement initiatives, training teams and promoting accessibility maturity across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Embed accessibility into design processes including discovery, concepting, and design critiques
  • Define and implement accessible interaction patterns
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards for color contrast, typography, spacing, and motion
  • Review design artifacts to identify and mitigate accessibility risks
  • Advocate for inclusive research practices and support usability testing with diverse participants
  • Validate designs using assistive technologies where applicable
  • Contribute to design systems by defining accessibility standards and guidelines
  • Create accessibility annotations and documentation for engineering handoffs
  • Train and mentor designers on accessibility best practices
  • Develop accessibility guidelines, playbooks, and frameworks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance accessibility across products
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in product design, UX design, or interaction design

Technical & UX Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of accessible interaction design patterns
  • Expertise in color contrast, typography, and visual accessibility
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and keyboard navigation behavior
  • Experience working with WCAG 2.1/2.2 standards (AAA preferred)
  • Familiarity with design systems and component libraries (e.g., Figma)

Functional Skills:

  • Ability to embed accessibility into end-to-end design workflows
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product, research, and engineering
  • Ability to translate accessibility standards into practical design constraints

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to influence and educate teams on accessibility best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Preferred:

  • Experience conducting or supporting inclusive usability testing
  • Experience scaling accessibility through design systems
  • Demonstrated success in improving accessibility maturity within organizations
