We are seeking a seasoned Lead Fabricator and Welder with deep familiarity and expertise in structural steel to drive shop operations through a blend of high-level technical skill and proactive leadership with a local fabrication business. This role is designed for an expert welder who thrives on the floor—mentoring a small crew, interpreting complex blueprints, and ensuring every joint and layout meets rigorous industry standards. The ideal candidate doesn't just manage; they lead by example, fostering a culture where safety compliance (OSHA) and structural precision are the top priorities.
salary: $52,000 - $72,800 per year

Responsibilities
Job Summary: Lead Structural Steel Welder Fabricator As the Lead Structural Welder, you will lead a small fabrication team (2-3 personnel) to execute high-quality structural steel projects. This role balances on-the-floor leadership with high-level technical execution, requiring a "lead-by-example" approach to meet production schedules while maintaining a culture of safety and accountability.
Core Responsibilities - Team Leadership: Supervise daily operations, coordinate workflows, and mentor staff to enhance technical skills and productivity.
- Precision Fabrication: Perform and oversee expert-level welding ( GMAW dual shield and hard wire ), complex layout work, and blueprint interpretation.
- Quality & Safety: Act as the primary gatekeeper for quality control, ensuring all components meet dimensional specs and industry standards.
- Operational Safety: Rigorously enforce OSHA compliance , conduct safety briefings, and oversee secure material handling and rigging.
Required Qualifications - Expertise: Extensive experience in structural steel fabrication or as a shop foreman.
- Certifications: Active MIG welding certifications (Hardwire and Flux-Core).
- Technical Skills: Mastery of structural steel shop drawings, advanced layout techniques, and precision measuring.
- Leadership: strong communication skills with a proven ability to direct rigging operations and manage small teams safely.
Preferred Qualifications: - AWS Welding Cert
- Overhead crane operation
