Weekly Scheduled Hours: Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Position Overview:

As part of the Assessment team in Fraud Protection Services, this position will be responsible for reviewing fraud claims from multiple pay rails to identify, document, and follow-up on root cause issues. The role will also develop and maintain rules/models to help classify types of fraud patterns. This role will utilize transaction data and claim data from various systems along with your knowledge of banking systems to research the “WHY” of root cause issues and follow the issue to completion. This position may also have to compare and contrast best practices with various pay rails.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop & maintain fraud typologies for various pay rails.
  • Review fraud claims & charge-offs for trends at the macro & micro scale.
  • Develop & maintain rules/models at the appropriate level of detail for classifying closed claims cases such that new fraud patterns are evident.
  • Understand the end-to-end flow of all payments and is connected internally with all change activity regardless of how insignificant.
  • Research & Catalog Industry Best Practices from various sources.
  • An ability to identify key problems, conduct in-depth research, and articulate well-reasoned solutions.
  • Maintain currency with industry knowledge related to Root Cause Analysis.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all aspects of departmental work.
  • Preform other duties as assigned by team leadership.

Education and/or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year College or University, preferably in Business/Finance, Data Analytics, or Engineering, or
  • A 2-year degree with 1-3 years of banking experience, preferably in various roles, or
  • A high school diploma with 5-7 years of banking experience in multiple roles including retail, fraud, or operations.

Required Skills:

  • Strong critical thinking skills – must be able to make decisions and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – must be able to establish relationships between various departments and teams in a banking environment.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Deep knowledge of general banking operations.
  • Deep knowledge of general banking regulations/policies/procedures.
  • Microsoft Office with special emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone.
